New Years Eve marks a transition and I love a transition because they hold the energy of hope and possibility. If you are on the journey of becoming a more healed connected, and aware version of yourself, I want to encourage you to use this holiday to support that work. You can use the questions below as journaling prompts for self reflection or spend some time today in conversation with a close friend or partner using these questions to guide you. Either way, I hope you will make some time this New Year’s Eve to connect with yourself, your desires, and your values and start the new year off right.
The Questions
There are 3 categories:
#1 Reflection
#2 Acknowledgement
#3 Intention Setting
Here are some questions for each of those three categories:
#1) Reflection
In this past year:
- what was most challenging for me?
- What do I wish I had spent more time/energy/resources on?
- What am I most proud of?
- What experiences held the most meaning for me and why?
#2) Acknowledgement
In this past year:
- what did I accomplish, learn or create?
- What habits did I break, change or create?
- What changes did I successfully make?
- What fears did I overcome?
- What lessons did I learn about who I am or how I want to live my life?
#3) Intentions
Intentions are what you want to consciously focus on without holding on too tightly to expectations. Look back at your reflections and your answers to the question what you wish you spent more resources on. This can give you some direction.
- What parts of my life do I want to build or enhance?
- What parts of my self do I want to focus on developing/healing/expanding?
- What habits or behaviors would I like to shift and how?
- What feels most important to me right now in my life?
- What one word captures the energy I want to build in the coming year?
- What people/places/things/activities EXPAND that energy?
- What people/places/things/activities CONSTRICT that energy?
Transitions are a fresh start and today, we are at the threshold of one. You can enter the New Year with awareness and intention and choose to leave the pressure of unrealistic expectations behind. Wishing you a new year filled with less go, and more grow.
